Our Journey Towards Sustainable Tourism

Embracing Sustainable Tourism and Responsible Travel

  • Our Commitment to Sustainability

We are deeply committed to sustainable practices both at our lodge and in the outdoor activities we offer. Every aspect of our tourism business is thoughtfully designed to be sustainable and environmentally friendly and do no harm to the local community or Mother Nature.

  • Striving for Harmonious Balance

Our ultimate goal is to achieve a balance between the needs of international travelers, the preservation of the environment and the well-being of our local community. We manage tourism in a way that benefits both, ensuring a responsible and harmonious coexistence.

  • Recognizing Our Vulnerability.

As part of a sensitive island ecosystem, we are acutely aware of the impacts of tourism and external influences on the environment. We strive to proactively mitigate the negative effects as well as engage the local community to reap the benefits of the increased visibility.

Nature Stewardship

We engage in slow travel primarily on wind power to reduce our impact on Mother Nature, the environment and the animals.

When we observe wildlife, we turn off the engines when we spot a whale and approach on sails or await for the whales to approach us.

We use clean hydro electric at our lodge and we recycle whenever possible.

We invite you to slow down and embrace the rhythm of island life and rural living while enjoying authentic and diverse Arctic activities by land or sea.

Community Engagement

We are committed to hosting local community events such as art exhibitions and music nights, featuring Andøya's rich cultural talents.

Additionally, we prioritize sourcing our supplies and services from local businesses, providing a direct economic benefit to the community.

We will also offer a platform for local artisans to showcase and sell their crafts, encouraging cultural exchange and supporting the local economy.

Cultural Integration

We aim to celebrate the rich heritage of the area and integrate it in the activities we offer around Andoya, Vesteralen, Lofoten and Northern Norway.

We organize cultural immersion experiences for our guests, such as traditional fishing trips with a local experienced guide, sailing on classic wooden Norwegian expedition vessels, visits to local museums, storytelling evenings, road trip stops to local artists and galleries and other cultural workshops.
